So we've been back in Gulu for about a week and a half now. The time is stressful trying to get all of the research done for my independent study. We have 2 weeks left until our 40 page paper is due. I'm working on a paper on the relationship between gender and poverty in a post-conflict society. I've found a lot of useful information, and I am also planning on working with an organization that focuses on income-generating activies available for women. Hopefully I can get it all done in the next two weeks.
Other than research, nothing much else is new. The power in all of Gulu keeps going out for a couple days at a time, so it's been difficult to get on computers.
I'm really enjoying my time here, and I'm excited to be here after the research part of over and just enjoy having some free days.
Peace and Love,
Michelle

You are heading to the light at the end of the tunnel! Way to go. Can hardly wait to read your 40 page paper. Just don't ask me to proof read it it takes me forever to read these days!!! So proud of you and the soccer project will be much fun for you and Caitlin!.
ReplyDeleteLove you Mom & Dad
My goodness, 40 pages, I can not even imagine how you would go about organizing your thought in a way to begin the beginning. that is why you are in college and I never went!
ReplyDeleteI just read the most interesting book, Beauty School in Kabul. It is a book I think you would enjoy reading. It is about a women that is from a small midwest town and goes to Afganistan to help the women there and does so by opeing up a beauty school. It helps them to have a way to earn money. Very intersting and (I think) very similar to what you may be seeing and experiencing where you are. Anyway, you can add it to your already saturated reading list!
You sound a bit more relaxed and things seem to have eased a bit for you. So glad.
Curious about the soccer project. How is it going?
Much Love and a Big Seattle Hug!!!!
